The finale of a four-game series in St. Louis between the Cardinals and Arizona Diamondbacks was postponed due to inclement weather Thursday.
The clubs will now meet Thursday, July 23 for a one-off makeup game. It was originally an open date for both teams; Arizona will stop in St. Louis to begin what’s now a 10-game road trip with visits to Washington, Pittsburgh and Cleveland.
The teams are also scheduled to play a three-game set in Phoenix July 17-19.
The Cardinals won the opener of the set 3-2 on Monday before the D-backs responded with 4-3 and 9-4 victories.
Arizona was set to start right-hander Zac Gallen (3-6, 6.10 ERA) on Thursday opposite St. Louis right-hander Michael McGreevy (3-6, 3.35). It was not known how the rainout would affect the teams’ pitching plans for Friday, when the Diamondbacks open a three-game series at the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cardinals host the Miami Marlins.
